Public Narrative: Storytelling for Action
Public Narrative is the craft of telling the story of your 'why' and calling others into action with you. Emotional experiences in our lives and moments of agency teach us the values that lead to our callings. By getting in touch with these moments we begin to access our own motivational moral resources in deeper ways; by communicating these to others we help them understand us and motivate them to act with us. Based in the work of Marshall Ganz at Harvard University, this workshop enables participants to dig into their 'why' and communicate it to others, develop community through narrating shared values, and call a group to action around the urgent issues we face.
Emotional Intelligence and Empathic Leadership in a Time of Crisis
We've all heard the saying 'people resist change,' right? Actually, people resist loss. In this moment, people are grappling with losses all around them -- material losses, losses of competency, losses of identity, and losses of certainty about the future. Without empathic leadership, things can feel dire and hopeless. Yet with a few key tools, we can enable agency in those around us. The empathetic bridge, created by Marshall Ganz at Harvard University, offers a four-step process for helping communities make meaning out of loss. Through experiential and engaging pedagogy, this workshop teaches participants to use the empathetic bridge to help people move forward with new hope, agency, and confidence.
Motivation, Creativity and Connection in the Face of Crisis
With the pressures of remote work and the continued onslaught of unpredictable events this year, many workspaces are finding that motivation and morale are diminishing. Yet there are several simple techniques leaders can use to build motivation and improve morale. Drawing on the latest research, this workshop focuses on four key elements of motivation: agency, connection, creativity, and purpose. Through customized design challenges and exercises, we'll build your team's resilience and ability to face into crisis with creativity and courage.
Leadership for Systems Change: Adaptive Leadership and Systems Thinking
On the toughest problems, no one knows the ‘right answers.’ That’s because there aren’t easy fixes to the stickiest problems, there is only progress. To learn to make progress, we need to see and understand the system, then engage stakeholders in creating shifts. Based in the work of Ron Heifetz at Harvard University, this workshop walks through key elements of analyzing and diagnosing leadership challenges, with participants using their own cases as learning material. Participants will gain a new framework for understanding systemic challenges as well as tools for addressing them step by step, unlocking new possibilities for future action.
